Six men's teams and four women's teams representing a total of seven nations lined up in Colombo, Sri Lanka, for the 2025 BNP Paribas World Team Cup Asian Qualification, with Japan heading the seeding for both the men's and women's events and duly winning both categories comfortably.
Japan were joined in the women's team line up by Chinese Taipei, India and Kazakhstan and while Chinese Taipei were not among the six teams contesting the men's qualification draw, Iran, Iraq and Pakistan joined Japan, India and Kazakhstan in a bid to qualify for the men's World Group.
However, after not naming their top players to contest the 2024 BNP Paribas World Team Cup and subsequently not finishing in a high enough position to earn direct entry for this year's World Group, Japan's men's and women's teams provided formidable opposition for all their opponents due to being able to call on the services of several Paralympic medallists and Grand Slam champions and finalists.
