‘Standards’ Recognition Award Criteria

‘Standards’ Recognition Award Criteria

Tournaments must meet all 3 criteria to be considered:

Tournament Feedback Survey – On the Wednesday of the tournament week, a survey is sent to the IPIN registered email address of players who participated in the tournament. Players are asked to rate key elements of the tournament and their overall experience. These results are used as a measure of player satisfaction with the tournament delivery.

  • Received a 10% response rate in the previous edition of the event.
  • Scored a specific metric (see ‘criteria’ below) on the ‘overall satisfaction’ question.
  • No metric within the survey questions can score less than 3 (‘average’). For the ITF Masters World Tennis Tour this includes communication, scheduling, standard of facilities, value for money and Tournament satisfaction.
  • Where a venue is hosting a tournament over various dates and or locations, (defined as the same tournament by the ITF Masters department) the scores will be aggregated further across the multiple dates and counted as one event within the Tournament Recognition Programme (TRP).

Tournament Supervisor Report – ITF Supervisors are required to submit a report following each tournament. Supervisors are required to rate the equivalent metrics to the Tournament Feedback Survey. No metric can score less than 3 (‘average’). This report must be received for the tournament to be considered.

National Association / Tournament Administration – National Associations/Tournament Directors must ensure a timely submission of the tournament application, tournament fact sheet and any required additional documentation for the tournament to be considered.

Criteria

The award is based upon the data from the most recent tournament, and if the standards have fallen based upon the above-mentioned criteria, then the award is removed. Tournament Recognition awards will be considered twice a year, in advance of the next edition of the tournament.  January to June tournaments will be informed in the final quarter of the previous year (December 2024 for January to June 2025). July to December 2025 tournaments will be informed by March the same year.

It is acknowledged that the higher the grade the better the feedback metrics. On this basis the Tours will split the categories and have different ‘overall satisfaction’ metric criteria. The breakdown and metric (measured on a 1-5 scale) is as follows:

ITF Masters World Tennis Tour

MT700 & MT1000

4.5

MT400

4.4

MT100 & MT200

4.3

Whilst the initial intention is to recognise 5-10% of tournaments, as more tournaments meet the criteria it is anticipated the number of tournaments achieving the recognition award will increase year on year. A nation can have more than one tournament receiving an Award in any period.
