ITF Sand Series Tour Finals return with Record Prize Money

The 2025 ITF Sand Series Tour Finals will return to Brasília, Brazil, from 29 November to 6 December, offering a record-breaking $125,000 USD prize pool - the largest in Sand Series history.

Now extended from five to eight days, the Tour Finals will feature the top eight men’s and women’s doubles teams, determined by the newly launched ITF Sand Series Tour Final Race Rankings.

Introduced for the 2025 season, the Race to Brasília marks a shift from individual to team-based qualification. This new ranking system tracks the performance of doubles teams across the year, with points earned at BT400, Sand Series, and World Championship events using the same values as the individual ranking tables. While players will continue to receive individual ranking points, results are aggregated by team to identify the top-performing pairs. The eight highest-ranked teams in each category will qualify for the Tour Finals.

Returning for a second consecutive year after a successful 2024 debut, the Tour Finals will take place across two indoor courts: the 10,000-seat BNB Basketball Arena and a secondary temporary venue with capacity for 2,000 fans. Located beside the iconic Estadio Mané Garrincha, a host stadium during the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the venue offers a world-class setting for players and spectators.

The competition will begin with round-robin group stages before moving into knockout rounds. The Tour Finals will also see the crowning of the season-ending World No.1 team.

Running alongside the main draw is the debut of the “New Wave” – an invitational event for emerging talents aged 17 to 21. Held during the Tour Finals, it showcases rising talent and supports the ITF’s commitment to grassroots growth and long-term player development.

Brazil continues to lead the way in beach tennis, hosting 13 of the 19 top-tier events on the 2025 ITF Beach Tennis calendar - including three Sand Series tournaments and the year-end ITF Sand Series Tour Finals.

This week sees the return of the Gran Canaria Classic Sand Series, the third ITF Sand Series event of the year. With teams already chasing valuable points, the Race to Brasília is well underway.

Jackie Nesbitt, Senior Executive Director, ITF Tours and Player Pathway, said, “The ITF is delighted to return to Brasília for the second edition of the Sand Series Tour Finals, following an excellent event in 2024. We are very pleased that the 2025 Tour Finals continues to be innovative and grow which is reflected by the 25% increase in prize money, expansion in the number of days allowing for player activation as well as the introduction of the “New Wave” invitational event for this year. The ITF values the efforts of CBT as fantastic event hosts and supporters of the ITF Beach Tennis Tour and share our thanks with the Secretary of Sports and Leisure of the Federal District and the event organisers for the continued support and shared vision for the Tour Finals.”

Alexandre Farais, President of the Brazilian Tennis Confederation, said, “It is with great pride that we once again celebrate Brazil as the host of the Finals in Brasilia. Our country has truly been a global leader in the beach tennis scene, hosting three Sand Series events, nine BT400 tournaments, the World Cup and now, once again, the Sand Series Tour Finals. This journey strengthens our leadership in the sport and confirms Brazil as the home of world beach tennis.”

Renato Junqueira, Secretary of Sports and Leisure of the Federal District, said, “Brasilia has once again established itself as an international reference in hosting major sporting events. Hosting the ITF sand Series Tour Finals reinforces our commitment to high-performance sport and the promotion of sports tourism. In addition to the economic impact, it is a unique opportunity to inspire our young athletes and strengthen beach tennis throughout the country.”

Bruno Ferreira, Tournament Director of the ITF Sand Series Tour Finals, said, “Brasilia became part of the global beach tennis calendar in 2021, when it hosted the first-ever Sand Series event. Since then, the city has stood out for continuously raising the standard of tournaments, improving every aspect of their organization. The Finals are no exception. This year, in addition to offering the highest prize money on the Tour, the tournament introduces a new format that promises even more excitement for the fans and a new level of service for the athletes. All of this further strengthens Brazil’s role in the global growth of beach tennis."
