Lazaro Garcia wins biggest title of her career at W75 Caserta

09 Jun 2025

30 year-old Andrea Lazaro Garcia won the biggest title of her career on Sunday at W75 Caserta - her first tournament win of the season.

The Spaniard, who won her first professional title back in 2012, was in excellent form last week in Italy. After battling through her opening round match, she beat three Italians in a row without dropping a set - before defeating Alice Rame 4-6 6-3 6-0 in the final.

Lazaro Garcia's best tournament win prior to last week had come at W35 level - with titles at W35 Santa Margherita di Pula and W35 Casablanca in 2024.

Her win in Caserta was a big step up in level and her 10th overall title on the ITF World Tennis Tour - showing her continuous improvements year after year. As well as this, the 30 year-old is now at a career-high ranking of 174 - beating her previous high of 180 which she set in 2022.

The Spaniard has plenty to build on with her latest success, and will have lots of opportunities to reach further heights going forward.

Elsewhere, Darja Vidmanova continued her fantastic form by picking up the title at W75 Sumter with a 7-5 6-1 victory over Cadence Brace.

The 22 year-old Czech, who recently graduated from college, has hit the ground running in some style at the professional level. Her title in Sumter was her second in as many weeks (as well as on separate surfaces) after winning W35 Santo Domingo, putting her on a 10-match winning streak.

Vidmanova was a sensation on the college tennis circuit, securing the No.1 ranking spot as well as winning the NCAA Triple Crown (becoming the champion in team, singles and doubles - which she is only the third woman to have done.)

This isn't the 22 year-old's first outing on the ITF World Tennis Tour either, as she claimed four titles in 2024 at W35 and W15 level.

Already a six-time champion on the World Tennis Tour - it will be fascinating to see where her career goes next.
