Australia’s Heath Davidson has today withdrawn from the Paris 2024 Paralympic Wheelchair Tennis Event due to personal reasons.

Paris 2024 would have been the 37-year-old’s third Paralympic Games after competing at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro, where he won gold in the quad doubles alongside Dylan Alcott, and Tokyo 2020, where he and Alcott claimed silver.

“I have made the difficult decision to withdraw from the Paris 2024 Paralympics,” wrote Davidson on Instagram. “My mum has been admitted to palliative care, and I want to be at home with her during this time.

“I wish Ben [Weekes] and Andy [Anderson Parker], and the rest of the Australian Paralympic Team, the best of luck representing the Green and Gold!”

Davidson, who is currently ranked No. 7 in the UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour Rankings, was due to feature in the quad singles draw at Paris 2024.
